Introduction to Weaving

Begin your Weaving Journey on a Rigid Heddle loom

In this full day workshop, we will cover the basics of weaving on a Rigid Heddle loom. This class is suitable for absolute beginners.

We will guide you through the fundamentals of weaving through this practical hands-on class.

You will have the opportunity to learn

· The parts of the rigid heddle loom and their use

· How to choose yarn for your weaving projects

· How to calculate the yarn quantity needed for a project

· Weaving terms and techniques

· How to direct peg warp a loom, wind on, thread and tie on a warp ready for weaving

· How to efficiently wind your shuttle

· Techniques for straight edges

· Practical weaving techniques through completing a sampler.

-You may choose to make your sample into mug rugs or a placemat or just experiment with the weaving process

· Learn how to weave with 2 colours.

· Finishing techniques for your woven piece and how to remove it from the loom

· Other useful weaving accessories

Class Specifics:

You will be provided with 3 x Fiddlesticks Wren 8 ply Cotton Yarn

A hire fee has been included in this class for the use of an Ashford 40cm Samplett Weaving loom for the duration of the class. You are welcome to purchase the loom on the day of the workshop, and the hire fee of $30.00 will be taken off the price of the loom.

A 10% workshop discount will be offered to class students on the day- this discount is not applicable on the loom.

By booking this workshop you are guaranteed a spot. We require a minimum of three people to participate in the workshop to go ahead.

If you have selected payment on pick up at checkout, you will need to finalise payment within 7 days of purchase or by 9th August (whichever is earliest) to ensure your spot is secured. Otherwise your spot will become available to the general market.
