For knitwear designers, inspiration can come from many places. Many of my patterns arise from browsing through stitch dictionaries, finding something interesting and envisioning what sort of garments can come from it. This beret holds a special place in my heart because the stitch pattern came from a book that was gifted to me by my best friend.

Skill level: Intermediate

Finished circumference (measured around ribbed brim): 40[45.5] cm (16[18.25]”)
Intended to be worn with 11.5-17 cm (4.5-6.75”) negative ease.

Great Southern Yarn 10 ply Powerful Owl, 1 skein. 136[149] m (149[163] yd) total for project. 10 ply (worsted weight); 100% Non-Superwash Merino; 160 m (175 yds) per 100 g. Pictured in Bogong Peaks (blue) and Caramellow (grey).

Needles

4.5 mm (US 7) or size needed to obtain gauge DPNs or 40 cm (16”) circular needles.
4.5 mm (US 7) or size needed to obtain gauge needles for preferred method of working small circumferences.
4 mm (US 6) or one size smaller than main needle DPNs or 40 cm (16”) circular needles (optional, for Tubular Cast On).
