Steeking Workshop – Unlock the Magic of Colourwork Cutting
Tackle the “scary steek” and open up a whole new world of possibilities in your knitting!
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to safely cut your knitted fabric and finish steeks with confidence, giving you the freedom to create seamless colourwork garments in the round.
Skill Level:
Intermediate Knitter
Participants should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round, and confident with stranded colourwork / Fair Isle, as well as casting on and binding off.

12:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Materials Required:
• 2 sets of US 8 / 5 mm needles for small circumference knitting
(double-pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop)
• US 7 / 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, straight needles, or a second circular needle
• Stitch markers
• Sharp scissors
• 3–5 mm crochet hook
• Worsted weight yarn (preferably non-superwash)
Yarn Requirements (for homework swatch):
• MC (Main Colour): approx. 20 g
• CC1 (Contrast Colour 1): approx. 20 g
• CC2 (Contrast Colour 2 – crochet & steek reinforcement): approx. 10 g
Homework:
Students will be provided with instructions to knit a base swatch prior to the workshop. This takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
