Kihnu Troi Vest Workshop – Estonian Colourwork & Steeking
Learn to knit a charming mini Troi vest while exploring the rich tradition of Estonian fisherman sweaters from the island of Kihnu.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll build confidence with a range of traditional techniques, including Kihnu vits (knitted braids) and steeking for seamless in-the-round construction. You’ll also take the exciting step of cutting three mini steeks for the armholes and neckline, reinforced with crochet for added stability.
This workshop is perfect for knitters who have had the Saar Vest or Troi Sweater on their wish list and are ready to take the next step into colourwork and steeking.
Skill Level:
Intermediate Knitter
Participants should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round, working stranded colourwork / Fair Isle, and confident with casting on and binding off.

Materials Required:
• 4 mm / US 6 needles for small circumference knitting
(double-pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop)
• Tapestry / darning needle
• Scissors
• 3–4 mm crochet hook
• DK weight yarn (preferably non-superwash; suitable for colourwork) in 3 contrasting colours:
Yarn Requirements (approximate):
• Main Colour: 20 g
• Contrast Colour 1: 20 g
• Contrast Colour 2: 5 g
